Kids Meet Local Authors at Book Festival

The 16th annual Rochester Children’s Book Festival is a superbly worth-while family activity that is totally worth skipping the mall and movies this Saturday.

Coming this November 10, (10 AM until 4 PM in the Flynn Campus Center at MCC) the day-long event gathers 44 writers and illustrators from upstate New York and around the country. The event is presented by the Rochester Area Children’s Writers and Illustrators group in partnership with Monroe Community College, Lift Bridge Book Shop and Rundel Library Foundation, and is one of the best one day book events in the entire country.

This will be a magical day packed with activities, presentations, and meeting those who write and illustrate books for children, tweens and teens. Busy Bookworm offers craft activities; author and illustrator presentations take place in both the Brighton Room and in Excellus Presentation Place; and your favorite authors and illustrators read stories in Genesee Valley Parent Magazine’s, Read to Me Corner. In the Mall, chat with and get a book signed by more than 40 Festival authors.

Since 2006 David Kalvitis has been one of the many local childrens’s book authors to have the privilege of being invited to the Rochester Children’s Book Festival. David will again be signing his Greatest Dot-to-Dot books, including his brand new Greatest Dot-to-Dot Adventure – Book 1, at the festival.

A full schedule and author list is posted on the festival Web site. http://www.rochesterchildrensbookfestival.org/rcbf/this_year.html

Lift Bridge Book Shop will offer a full range of books for sale. Authors will be available for autographs and questions. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Monroe County libraries. Please join us on Saturday, November 10th, 2012, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM in the Flynn Campus Center at Monroe Community College.
